A little internet history

A whole world of Flash games.

1996
FutureSplash brought animation to the web and became Macromedia Flash. Games, cartoons and interactive websites followed.
2020–2021
Adobe ended Flash Player support on 31 December 2020 and blocked playback in its player from 12 January 2021.
Today
We use Ruffle to help preserve these original Flash games in modern browsers, without the old Flash plug-in. Compatibility varies by game.

Our part in that early web

Our Java games began on Smilie.com in the 1990s, before Matica followed. A surviving Smilie archive from 1 June 1997 refers to Mirkin’s Darts; Matica appears in the archive from 11 November 1998.

These games are part of that first wave of web play. We’re keeping them accessible, along with their original pages and history.

We’re restoring our classic games for today’s browsers. Some controls need a keyboard or mouse; scores and other features are still being checked.

Original game notes

Try your hand at making your own game. We will be including the best efforts from our loyal visitors in our latest game. We feel the collective creativity of our visitors will build better levels than we could hope to. After all they regularly thrash us on the high score tables of the games we actually make ourselves!
